
Sigiriya, also known as the "Lion Rock," is an ancient rock fortress and palace ruin located in the central Matale District. This UNESCO World Heritage Site rises 200 meters above the surrounding jungle and was built in the 5th century AD by King Kassapa I. The site features ancient frescoes, water gardens, and the remains of an impressive palace complex at the summit.
